interesting news day

(LE SPIKE)
So, Iowa allows gay marriage, (go IOWA, yay!) a deranged gunman shoots up a bunch of innocent people DOWN THE ROAD from us here in central NY, and snow is expected tonight. (bleh!)
So, if I remember correctly, as the Chinese insult goes:
'May you live in interesting times'.
PS--5 minutes after I wrote the above? A green van has an accident in the front yard of the neighbors across the street and now the state troopers are investigating...

I guess we all live in interesting times, but you live in a place of interest, too.

Appropos of nothing, The Roma (It's not pc to call them "Gypsies") have a saying (or is it a curse) may you get what you want...and want what you get.

That's quite a mixed bag! And Iowa? Awesome! But I must say Iowa isn't the first state I would have bet on.

Spike looks like he's contemplating moving to Iowa.. or to Canada where gay marriage has been legal nationwide for years.

Spike was watching us eat our dinner, actually.

I'm from Belgium, were gay marriage has been available for 6y, preceded by legal unions.

Unfortunately, Belgium has one of Europe's highest (straight) divorce rates, so marriage induced mixed feelings:
sure, I'd love to have one of those lavish marriages,
but since I've seen friends go through a heart-breaking divorce I became very hesitant.

So at present, I'll settle for a partner-by-my-side, without marriage ;-)

I saw the news break ins. Lis mentioned it was about 40 miles from y'all! Whew! I thought about y'all as soon as I heard it. Glad everyone is okay.

Strange about the green van....

Spike needed a paper in front of him as if reading the news! That'd been too cute!

Hope the California Supreme Court was reading the news.
