Ming and me

(vase by Gary Rith and a Ming vase)
I was in the mood to make a 'gourd vase' which is sort of a double bubble bottle shape. I had, as it turns out, a lousy piece of clay---I am finishing the last of a bad batch--so it was more tricky to make than it should have been, but of course, now I need to make more!

I love when you do the big vases and pitchers. :-)

What makes a load of clay a "bad batch"?

soft and chunky!
I had used a certain clay for 15 years and started using clay available here and it is SO GOOD I can make enormous pots and all...dang, i have been using shirty clay for 15 years????????
I am almost done with the old stuff.

i guess that proves not all clay are created equal. does it make you feel like you've wasted the last 15 years as a potter?

Can't wait to see the final product, and I love the bunny mugs in your header.

i love how you 'mix it up' - different designs, groovy waves, mingy vases, and the zoo of course (heh) - i feel quite at home here.

still LOVED the anarchist header. but your mugs are sweeeet! Put on a warm sweater and cozy up to the fire with ms. M - that's what i'd do if my weather looked like yours!
