6:30 already?

I am, of course, a big football fan. Everybody in my family played football (see Fred Oliver, my grandfather, below) including tiny little me. I am not terribly interested in this game, and seem to be missing the party next door, because me and the missus have been drinking beers and discussing poetry. Really! "But what does she MEAN here by the use of 'bourne'?????" and "OK, this is the drfinition of ballad, and which of Gwendolyn Brooks' poems exemplify that???????". The missus is a student of poetry and I am along for the ride. Beers and poetry, is this the new ME??????

I think that western Pennsylvania and 5 or 6 people in Arizona care about this game. I am guessing HO HUM, Steelers 35, AZ 10. PROVE ME WRONG CARDINALS!

...there are a few New Yorkers excited, but definitely not as many as I'm used to seeing. The Ship of Fools Sports Bar around the corner from me is full but definitely not packed, which is not the case when a New York- or New England-based team is playing. I think more people are probably enjoying the game in the privacy of their homes this year. I've got the game on, but I'm not paying much attention to it. I'm looking forward to the post-game one hour episode of "The Office" that will air after the game.

Beer(s) plural??? Wow - that means you've had more than o n e! ha!

Nobody cares about the game tonight here in our corner of the State. Not even Jimbo.

Beer + poetry could be A LOT worse! Like beer + romantic comedy. That would ruin the beer for sure. ;)

We are trying to eat popcorn and we shut Spencer out with a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. Jez! We want some popcorn sometimes. He's screaming and hollering and swearing in German. We better go get him.

We made a feast of typical Super Bowl food like buffalo wings and nachos, and were defeated by it, exhausted and stuffed, and belching.

I made up a song I sang to [The Man I Love], called "Don't put your toes in the guacamole" - because it seemed an imminent danger.

Bruce was pretty good, though - except the audio mix for the TV audience sucked.

I'm glad the Cardinals proved you wrong, although it would have been nice to totally stop the game a minute early.
