36 jars of jam

(Missus Blueberry and some of the various berries turning into JAM)
I love June. I love August and July too. And in June you pick strawberries, during a brief season, and then you have a few weeks in July and August to pick blueberries, MY FAVORITE. It is our habit to pick the berries in the summer, then freeze the berries and make them into jam when the weather is cold and stinko: now. Our house smells quite berrylicious, we made 4 batches of jam: one blueberry, 2 strawberry, and one mixed, 36 jars total.

This is just one of the things I missed this past Xmas!

'Oh yum', she says in surprise as she arrives at this potter's blog. Should I ever find a way to stand the finger-printing and mug-shot I would need to arrive in America from Europe, I would surely come to visit bearing many gifts in exchange for a small taste of the jam here :)

I used to make my own too, a long time ago in a land far away ... and all that.

Oh Boy! that looks good! Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm!

(I'm so glad I have my very own blue spattered bowls again, or else I'd have to jump into that photo and grab yours! ;))

That is a great plan--much better than the boiling and canning in the heat of summer plan that turned me off of canning.

What a great tip, I never knew you could freeze fruit and make jam later - that's what I could have done with all my peaches, thx.

IT IS hot in summer and a lot easier in winter. Freezing also makes the fruit a little softer so you don't have to worry as much about pureering the fruit. We just follow the sure jell low sugar recipe. It is pretty easy, but must be done carefully, and because it is messy, it is easier to make a bunch of batches and then cleanup all at once!

You two sure have fun! Me and my mister cooked our first turkey (ever!) plus all the fixings at Christmas and we had a blast. I think more couples-cooking is in our future! Maybe we'll try the whole jam thing sometime... Well, maybe not.

So the recipe would be nice. But, I'm thinking four batches? That's WHOLE lot of jam. You know, you could always send some to me if you need more storage space for pottery?

I'd be willing to help you make space, you know I'm all nice that way. ;-)
