Not to make too much of it, but as I say down a couple of posts, and longtime readers know, I have a pet hamster in my dreams. At its best, it passes through and basically says hello. At its worst there is the recurring dream where I have forgotten I have a pet hamster and when I get to it there is no food or water and it is sick. I had one of the bad dreams last night, although for the first time in all the years I have had a dream hamster, I realized its name is Robert. I think it is equivalent to worrying that I am forgetting to do something, or maybe neglecting some important task.
If you know me you realize I am self-disciplined and I get work done. Considering I have been self-employed for 12 years, it should be this way: I wake up, make the plan, and the day goes like clock work because I love to work and I love to get stuff done. So maybe the person who loves to get stuff done on the list worries that he won't get to it all or that he'll forget something?
Anyway, in comments down a few posts Janet looked up this dream definition and interpretation for hamsters:
"To see a hamster in your dream, represents underdeveloped emotions. You are distancing yourself from others so that you won't end up getting hurt. It may also indicate that issues of sexuality are trivial to you. You are able to separate sex and love."
There's a heap of bullshirt.
I like this interpretation better:
"Curious, nosey, tending to get into everything. The idea that focusing on the small things can bring big results. The feeling that something is pestering you, "gnawing away at you," or "nickel and diming" you. Dreaming of this animal can represent:
Having too much of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being less this way
Not having enough of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being more like this
Someone or something in your real life with whom you associate one of these qualities (an event, situation, threat, etc.)"
Heather suggests this rather silly and amusing homemade video of a hamster eating popcorn on the piano....
