Ich Bin Ein Berliner

3 Earth shaking moments in my life, where something big you figure would never happen comes to be: the Berlin Wall comes down and communism too, everybody used to smoke, and now a black man has been elected president. Is this our JFK?
I'll tell you this though, it may be nice to win, but what a lot of headaches the new president will face.

(longtime readers will guess that I was not exactly a fan of McCain)

i think his ability to lead the free world will even exceed his talent as a campaigner.

I'm in a tizzy this morning. Yes, this is the leader of your country, but he will also have a profound effect on the world stage. After 8 years of the neo-con Bush terror and corruption machine, there's now some hope.

I, too, have been comparing him to JFK. I hope & pray he doesn't have certain things in common with JFK. (Terror, fear & corruption love targets)

I have high hopes for this man to do great things for our country.

Go read FW's PURPLE post!! :)

PS: I slept just fine w/o knowing until this morning.

PPS: The word is "doglom"

I think that the appealing thing about Obama is that he is much better family man than JFK was. Plus you don't want him to be hurt like JFK.

I pray his fate doesn't mirror JFK's....
Our world is full of optimism....let's keep the momentum going!!!!

I hate to compare him to JFK, given what happened to him. Let's just say Our New President is a Really Good Manager, a great public speaker, and someone who can light a fire under our butts so WE do OUR job of making this country what it should be.

(BTW, I'm so dang happy I can't stand it.)

Me too! Me too! I cried I was so happy. I've been spouting patriotic love to my children all day. Speaking of civil rights movement and its culminative effect on yesterday, teaching about the branches of government and their importance, about voting and citizenship. Jeez, I need to slow down or they are going to get scared away by all my enthusiasm. But after desperately needing hope for almost a decade, it feels grand to witness such an historic moment.

I do agree that we have a long and tough road ahead. So thankful we have a leader who can command confidence toward that end.

I too cried at his speech. My youngest son's whole life (he is nine) has been had a dark, political shadow on it...I can see the light...the first thing he said when he woke up is "he won, didn't he...it was inevitible."
