Canada hates northern NY

I bet it goes back to the war of 1812 or something, which, contrary to MY SCHOOL HISTORY books, Canadians claim to have won. But I thought we fought the British? Canadians apparently have long memories, because they fight dirty: every winter they blow this cr@p across Lake Ontario at us, and we get tons of snow. 1-4 inches last night? Tell that to my beagle who is up to her moist little nose in snow out there.

We've the dreaded Paul Anka and Celine Dion your way... and you're complaining about a bit of innocuous snow? Silly Amurikans!

Gary - I say we just divert all this snow, rain, ice, etc and send it all down to FW and Linda Starr.

Just a dusting last night, here. Sun is out shining brightly. But later on today.....

My stepsister is driving up to Mohawk today! I warned her...

hmm, Mohawk is not far from that 8" thing up there....

Maybe that's why the Canadians bred Labrador Retrievers to look the way they do: big enough to plow through two feet of snow, coats thick enough to withstand the cold. If they'd had less snow, maybe they'd have bred beagles. Just an idea.

Really, it's nothing personal. I like the snow, myself, but I seem to be alone on that one.

For the record, the snow is NOT coming from MY part of Canada.

PLEASE SEND SNOW OUR WAY!

I'm with cm: I like snow. I figured we were just trying to share our good fortune.

And there, dear children, is the reason we have all those weird Canadians! Forgive me, please, dear Aunt Irene, my daft and darlin' Canadian aunt. I've never quite felt the same about snow since the day I toboganned off the sled and into the snow without any protection other than my underpants and my school uniform skirt. I was about 6, I think. Man! That stuff was cold. I still shriek remembering it.

The snow is coming from MY PART of Canada. Americans did fight the British, and probably my great-great grandfather, who was there. He was from Scotland, but in the British Army, and died from old age.

If the weather system goes across Lake Ontario, then yes, NY will get a heap of snow. Lake effect, Gary. Snow puts me in the mood of Christmas, shiny bells, eggnog, roasting chestnuts by the fireplace...

Actually, it comes from Alaska.

That's my story and I'M sticking with it.

As an after thought, the weather system came over Canada's arctic, so we can all blame it on the Russians.

Please blow some down our way!!

For the record, we tried (years ago) to be sent to Fort Drum. We love snow, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, sledding, snowball fights, hot cocoa, snowboots, Gluehwein (German hot spiced wine), hot cider... I know I'm forgetting some wonderful things.

Maybe Penny needs snowshoes?

What does your big dog think of snow?
