old school

SO, as I have been saying, have been meeting up with a variety of friends going back to sixth grade. When I was 12. Sarah has been visiting here and Carrie lives in town nearby--wowie, imagine 2 women who have known you over 30 years saying you LOOK exactly the same and you SOUND exactly the same and your personality is exactly the same? Could it be that our personalities are formed by the time we are 12? Could be.
I am still tied up.
I miss you.
SO, what are you all up to? Please comment here and let me know.....

Soon, you will get back to your normal routine again. When you drop me off at that bus terminal. But what perfect weather to be goofing off to! And wasn't Joyce Carol Oates just a riot?

Either our personalities are fully formed by the time we are 12 or maybe some of us stop maturing at 12. ;-)

Hmm. Interesting theory Gary.... I suppose it is fairly true, although I'm pretty sure I don't look exactly the same as when I was 12. Nothing wrong with being youthful :)

I've missed seeing you at the studio (btw: you had some nice stuff come out of the glaze kiln last night)... I'll have to fix this situation.... or at the very least hit up the chapter house

The 12-year-old and current mes couldn't further apart. I still have many of the same interests, but I was such a shy, quiet kid. I would rather die than walk into a room full of strangers and start talking to them. Yet, that's exactly what I did at the conference. I find as I get older, that I really thrive in situations like that. :-D

Love the header picture! Have fun with your friends! My oldest and wonderful friend I've known since she was four years old. They had just walked in and she was sitting on a bench on her front porch.

I was walking back to my Gramm's house. And, she said, Hi. "Do you wanna' be my friend?" To this day she just as sweet and bold! Love her.

i think i have kinda the same personality as when i was 12 but i try never to act that old... judging by how well i get along with 3-5 year olds, i'd say it's in there somewhere

I think the 12 year old me is still in there. There are certain times she comes out and I tell her to shut up and go back to bed, but most of the time we play together!

Today is a boring one for me. Had a grouchy email from a Craigslist shopper and found a big wrinkle on my forehead that I didn't know was there. That did not make the 12 year old me happy so we just stuck our tongue out at that wrinkle and went "pfffffflllllllltttt."

When I was 12 I had geeky glasses, liked to draw and read and sing really loud, and had a secret wicked sense of humor. I would like to think I have progressed.

HA! :)

Your comment reminds me of a poem that Mrs. Pottsblog shared with me, the main line being, "The child is father of the man". It's a line you hear from time to time. The meaning is basically what you're saying, that our characters are formed early on. Here's the poem in its entirety:

My Heart Leaps Up When I Behold
by William Wordsworth, 1802

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man
I wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.

As for what I'm up to, I'm home trying to finish a book before the library wants it back. Tonight I'm going to the movies with my girlfriend--girls night out. We're going to see "Five Hundred Days of Summer".

I love Emily SIL's poem above. I met up with old friends at the beginning of the month. I've stolen your title and will credit you accordingly. (It's part 4 of my vacation.)

I'm up to the usual gangsta st*t. You know.

I don't think I'm the same as I was at 12. I was verrrrrrryyyy quiet at age 12. I was maybe still the same inside my head but as far as a personality goes and my behavior, very different.

You're still tied up? Did Carrie and Sarah tie you up? What WERE the three of you doing?

hey gary...i used to be an early childhood educator...i believe one theory states that your personality is formed in the first three years of life...i think it true (at least for me!).

I'm up way too early on vacation, even after you factor in the hour's time difference.
Who was it who said "give me a boy at 7 and I will show you the man"? As has been said here before, Zappa was wrong: Life isn't high school with money, it's grade six.
