20 bucks and 2 hours=Batman, burritos, beers

Tink wrote a rather heartfelt and bittersweet post about, well, you go read it.

BUT, she also asks: what would you do if you had 20 bucks and 2 free hours in which to spend it? I thought for about 2 seconds (or less): I would go to Viva downtown for burritos and beers and get a Batman comic from the comic joint down the street. And lose myself. I am a very cheap and cheerful date, I would say, even if I am alone. And google image cracks me up: type in Batman eating a burrito and you KNOW something good will pop up.
So tell me, what would you do with 20 bucks and 2 hours by yourself? Go to comments.

Also, big shout out to birthday girl Cheri, who sent ME a small package from California to celebrate. Wowie, thanks Cheri!

Oh.
Maybe I should have said I would break my 20 down into quarter rolls and go downtown and pass out change to the beggars and street muscians....
OR I could stick with plan A.

20 bucks and 2 hours? I'd go to the Gary's Craft Shop (ironic the name).. and buy some jewelry supplies and work on a beading project. I need the time right now to create a wedding necklace for January!

I'm new to your blog and I love the pottery at the top! Lovely work!

Well, I sure wouldn't need 2 hours to spend $20.00 - I can tell you that right now. I would buy a book. Have lunch. Maybe put a down payment on a sugar bowl.

I did, however, donate $25.00 via Kiva to support a small business in Samoa...and what do you know?? They are paying the loan back! I got word that $2.82 had been repaid. I can, and am, turning the money repaid back into another loan.

I'm on the same track, Gary. I'd head down to the discount theater and catch a showing of "The Dark Knight", with the giant barrel of buttered popcorn. You know, the one they have to stick on a dolly and wheel to your seat. Yeah, that's the ticket. Movie theaters all have defibrillator machines these days, right?

I read Tinks earlier. I commented that mine would involve a nap, 'cause really that's what I need.

If I had two hours free time and $20 I would go pick up the puppy, grab a hoagie and go hiking. I'd split the hoagie with her.

But she counts as someone. So just me? Hmm...put the money in the bank and read the Neil Gaimen novel I'm working on...

I would walk north a block from my apt and sit down at the wine bar. $20 will only get me two glasses but I buddy up with everyone in the room and the bartender will buy me a third to keep me around for conversation. I like meeting people in that kind of setting. You always learn something.

Aw. You passed the question along! Gary, you rock. As for me, I ended up buying a big reeses cup and then watching the BBC channel(which Hoop hates). Lol. That leaves me with $15 for a rainy day. :)

I'd invite my son out for pizza and soda's and we could sit for two hours just yaking about what's going on in his life.

Imagine! Two hours holding your 20 yr old son captive! And all it would take is food! ha!

I think I'm gonna do this!

Thanks Gary! (and Tink!)

I'm not sure. Interesting question though. I'll give that some thought while I'm on the plane. :)

I know I've always wanted to take a pile of money and pass it out to people who aren't expecting anything...w/o revieling who I am.. Like that old show on TV years ago. How fun would that be!?

Davens. I would go to Davens and see what Mason stains they have that I don't have yet. Or look at tools. Or stamps, cutters, brushes...

I think I'd have a fishbowl sized margarita, chips and salsa at an outdoor table at my fav mexican restaurant. Heck, chips and salsa are free... I might even be able to buy TWO margaritas.

I love what Lynda did with that loan, that is such a great feeling.

ANd yes, you are the sunshiniest - I never come here that I don't laugh about something.

I LOVE that pumpkin glaze on the teaset below!!

I'd be with j at the movies (although not necessarily with j at the Dark Knight), with a big popcorn and a pop and even a chocolate bar. I won't tell you what B said he'd do, as you want to keep this family-friendly; I think he's been spending too much time with celeste.

I'd probably put the $20 in my gas tank and go glaze a few more pots at the school studio. Which reminds me, once a homeless person asked me for spare change at the gas station. I usually say no to most panhandlers. I could see he was really drugged out, so I said I couldn't give him any money, but I'd buy him a meal at the adjacent McDonalds. He said no thanks. A little while later he came up and said he'd take the hamburger; we went into McDonalds and I bought him a meal. Sometimes opportunity knocks in the strangest places.
