a tale of 3 teapots
(teapots by Gary Rith)
SO I made 3 of these teapots, the one above was the first of the series, the one below the 2nd, and the 3rd is firing now. The one above looks superb and it just came out of the kiln, but crappitycrapcrap, small flaw on the front side. I'll turn it around and give it to the missus, it looks wonderful on that side as you see. Sometimes a piece YOU LOVE has a small flaw, and RATS! You gotta keep it.
Its brother below will have an attd. handle. I collect cane and bamboo handles, and have them ready in a box--and then decide which looks best on that type of teapot. My mind is made up and later today you will see a pic of the final piece. Which would you prefer?

OMG, Gary... these are gorgeous! Don't think that "flaw" is detracting at all. Handles? Lower left ;-)
Gorgeous!
I agree with Lynda. Lower left is the one.
And the slight flaw? That just makes it a "collectible".
collectible? 'give it to the wifeable' !!!! :)
let's just say that the teapot handle you 2 mention is a good idea but I am not telling yet
Definitely lower left handle.
Do you ever just re-glaze and re-fire the pot to get rid of the imperfections? I've had some success but only if I sand the spot with one of those hand grinders. And only if its not a runny glaze.
Okay - if I didn't pick lower left, I'd go for upper right (not the top one)...that's it for guessing ;-)
hint: Lynda is pretty smart, and the lower left and upper right are identicle, EXCEPT upper right has a wrapped handle----as for reglazing--some glazes reglaze and refire nicely, this one does NOT
I lean to the left side in the middle row, the one that looks a bit like those torii the Japanese are so fond of, the temple gateway look, or something like that, but it's proportionally wrong for that particular pot, I think. Sigh.
rule #14: Never point out the rats - most people never see them! :)
I love this pot the most of all 3
