sh!tkickers!

My pal Lynda, a Texas native, was talking rodeo today. Sophisticated New Yorker and anarcho-punk that I am, (HAR!) you have to realize I possess eclectic tastes. And I possess cowboy boots and so does my lil darlin' (who is on vacation for a couple of days and easy to rope into my dumb bloggy schemes). Every would-be Texan knows deep in his heart nothing is sexier than a lady in cowboy boots, even if his own New York self feels a little silly in them. No I don't. I feel macho and proud and like I could go ridin' off into the sunset.
So, my darlin' got her boots years ago, and how I got mine? A good story. I got mine in Miami Beach, of all places, when I worked there in the winter of 86 (good lord, if you live in the north your whole life, it is INCONCEIVABLE that it is 75 degrees on the beach in January, and the ocean temp? 75 degrees.) I grew up swimming in Connecticut and Maine, where the July Ocean temp is 53. And the air temp in July is also 53. Anyway, there were things I liked about Miami, esp. Miami Beach and the Keys, and that's where I got my sh!tkickers. For 5 bucks.

Here's George Straight, All My Exes Live in Texas....

You can't beat a deal like that - ever wonder who lifted those boots to sell for five bucks? lol... my angel-child just went and got her some boots today for her birthday - I haven't seen them yet, but hear they have pink on them...

The boots you two have look like the real deal - yeeha and yipee-i-yo-ka-yay!

$5 must have been the deal of the century,
even back in 86 :-)

There is nothing so sexy as a worn-in pair of shitkickers. Damn, y'all both look hot in them! ;) And for $5... my little heart is going pitter patter at the deal you got. I got some $5 black keds with sparkles on them this week - it made my day.

George Strait used to hang out at Herberts Taco Place in the old section of San Marcos. Herberts had the best Mexican in San Marcos and just about anywhere... and George Strait would come in there alot. People shook hands with him all the time.

I was going to South West Texas State in San Marcos in 1981-1985.
