Penny and her pearly whites

When the vet first met Penny she said 'oh she has beautiful teeth! brush them every day...'
Oh man, brush the dog's teeth? Who would do that? Luckily Penny is sweet and docile and SMALL. She doesn't like it, but she tolerates it pretty well.

What a good dog! In that first photo of her, she has the most incredibly expressive eyes. She's SUCH a sweetheart.

i'm surprised she tolerated you doing this to her. good for her and good for you for keeping her teeth cleaned.

remember in college when those two women would brush each other's teeth in the bathroom.

There is NO WAY my dogs would let me do that to them! I can't believe she sits there (and pretty calmly - I might add!) and tolerates it!

I had to inject a little pepto bismal into one of my dogs mouth last week! What a trial! Good thing I did it outside on the deck! lol.

Sharkey's usual tactic to avoid anything that he doesn't like is to lie down as fat as he can. Just imagine the fun of trying wrestle a toothbrush into the mouth of a dog-skin rug. LOL

The vet tells me to brush the cat's teeth. I am amazed that anyone thinks this is even possible with a cat!
Penny is truly a loving and trusting dog.

What a sweety-pie! Gordy (my dog) just had a thorough cleaning at the vet... they knocked him out.

I don't think we could get him to have the patience Penny has ;-)

Another Ellie! I love it.

Penny is a very good dog. I tried to brush Bitsy's teeth once. Got nothing accomplished because she kept sticking her tongue out and licking wherever I was trying to brush. Give Penny a kiss on the nose for being such a good puppy.

Ok, I just happened to see the comment Denis left. Two women brushed each other's teeth?! Come on... we must hear that story!

Denis and I went to college with a large number of freaks and far-out types.
As for Penny, I think a young cat or dog can get accustomed to a lot of things! Like our cat Emily--from the youngest age I held her upside down like a baby and rubbed her belly, and of course she loves it.

Don't you realize Penny is the very first canine up for canonization? Just imagine it, Saint Penny of Ithaca, the saint to whom all dog owners and their dogs send their petitions for extra bones and patience on both sides! THAT is my explanation of that saintly look on her face! And don't tell me it's only resignation, a 'no point in arguing' look. I know from saintly! And she is!

Olivia has that enzymatic cleaner. So I just put some on my finger and she lets me stick it in her mouth and rub it all around. Beagles rock.
