chick lit: a regular guy book review

(Candace Bushnell)
The woman who wrote, and probably lived, Sex and the City (I thought the movie was dumb and I don't like that thin actress with the horsey face, but I do like the unrepentent tart Samantha), writes some unbelieveably funny books. Did Hollywood and the horsey actress ruin Candace's work?
Just read her latest 'One Fifth' about a building in New York. I loved it, just like her other books. Hilarious--manages to satirize and skewer everything. Ten big fat thumbs up out of ten!

Speaking of female solidarity, my little Tastycake, Penny the beagle and Emily the cat will probably sleep in all day in a cloud of goose down feathers, so I should give the wakeup call. I opened the door to take out the dogs this morning and my hands stuck, a la Ralphie, to the screen door knob (a little water on my fingers=briefly frozen to the metal). IT IS THAT COLD OUTSIDE. Maybe 8 degrees.

My boss at Capezio in the Village (back in the '80's) use to take me to 1 5th Ave. for lunch occasionally. Keith Richards used to live there.

Speaking of goose down... Never leave a down pillow in the proximity of unattended 6 and 8 year old boys.

My problem with SITC (the movie) is that the characters seemed a) shallow, b) self absorbed, and c) therefore detestable. Maybe the books are better though.

I love down pillows and bed spreads! DH not so much. Hot and he says they upset his allergies (they can carry and collect allergens, dander, etc.) Poo.

I still have MY feather pillow, though!

8 degrees? YIKES! I'd never survive there. I wish I could send you some of our beautiful sunshine!

Happy Saturday!

Brrrrrrr.... and it's only 10 degrees warmer here!

I've watched 10 minutes of SITC - that's all it took to decide it was most definitely NOT my cup of tea.

Now that Ralphie...he cracks me up!

Ever taken a dare to stick out your tongue and touch a metal post in a really temp? Not recommended! Very scary, and hurts! Still got a light, light snow coming down here in mid-America and my dumb kids are coming back from Florida! Idiots! Just don't get the idea I won't be thrilled just knowing they're back. But --- all that warm sunshine? Ooooohhh

Shoulda said "really COLD temp"

It was about 20 degrees here this morning, Gary. It's only '30' now. Supposed to be bitter tomorrow.

Got my 'package' today! The mugs and coffee canister are BEAUTIFUL!!! The 'perfect' green! Thanks!

*kc - those green mugs are something else! Did I mention that I now have 4 of them??? lol

I'm looking for a good winter curl-up read. Good suggestion.

In the 70's I once had a boyfriend who lived in a tiny penthouse in one of those buildings down at the low end of Fifth Avenue. Last time I went to NY, though, I couldn't remember exactly what building it was.

Didn't love the movie, LOVED the tv series. Great clothing, great fantasy New York life. Haven't read any of her books.
