BE GROOVY

This is rare. Usually I am mister chipper in the morning, but man, I am BEAT even after a triple double espresso and another coffee. My a$$ is dragging! Still debating a trip to the grocery store or a NAP.
Penny and I had a soaking wet walk out there in the dark with the ducks. Tis rainy! A week ago this would have been 30 inches of snow, so no complaints here mate.

SO, this is getting me excited. I am over at the Cornell studios and for years Andy the director has done this wavy thing on his pots, but I've never seen him throwing (he does so late at night) but then Saturday I am looking at the shelves and the NEW dude in town Matt is doing this dang wavy thing, and then I see TOM is also doing this wavy thing and I am like HOW DO YOU DO THE WAVY THING???????????? I mean, 26 years making pots, and I have never seen how anybody does the wavy thing.
BUT, Norah is hanging around, not doing the wavy thing, but she watched Tom the night before and tells me you just slowly etch a wavy groove on there then you run your finger over it, slowly, many times. OH, sez I, just like putting a spiral groove on there. So I try it successfully on a small mug, then two more mugs then this morning I am like, how about the wavy thing on a big bottle? Trickier because you can't get you fingers inside? But I try it anyway and wave one on pot one looks good, but where one is good two is BETTER I would say....and it is a groovy bottle. So I make another.
With the mugs below, I think a wavy cup asks for a wavy handle, righto?

Dontcha just LOVE figuring out new techniques? They look good! Helps that you are SO talented and a quick learner. Someone like me would go through 50# of clay before they got it figured out well enough to save a few! Honest!
