why YES, yes, that is me in the newspaper...

(Pic of me working in my studio, just below the fold of the Ithaca Journal)
Customer emails this am, wanting to come over. She is new to me, and she sez "loved the pic of you in the newspaper!" and I am like
"the newspaper? say what?". Turns out the Greater Ithaca Art Trail, of which I am a member, had submitted info about the next two open studio weekends to the reporter. Glad somebody told me! I got 2 copies :)
It sez under the pic:
"Gary Rith shows a young visitor to his Etna ceramic studio how to throw a bowl. The studio is part of the tour on the Greater Ithaca Art Trail"
and then the reporter sez in the middle of the article below
"Visitors will find both fine art and functional pieces at potter Gary Rith's purple house in Etna......"
Listen, come on over. I have met dozens of bloggers and other visitors on these open studio weekends: October 10-11 and October 17-18 11-5pm.

Yes, yes - I have met the famous potter himself and his lovely wife. Quite charming he is, but I didn't get no stinking cookies or anything...but Christi always does. *sigh*.

I freaked a little when I saw the picture of you in the gallery....looks exactly like the art gallery in my Performing Arts Center...Same size, white walls, track lighting and white boxes...I even think the bald guy behind you has been in my gallery!

Kate et Jim, we didn't either! But then, it was blasted hot and I'm pretty sure we overwhelmed Gary with our brood of tall young'uns. I suspect we were a daunting proposition. ;) Now that the weather is turning cooler, they are often making up hot cocoa in their Gary Rith cups. So, no cookies, but delightful & useful cocoa mugs! :)
And SuperDad got BEER!

Gary, are you serving beer for your Art Trail visitors? :)
