Chapter 2, Corning Museum of Glass

So on Friday we went to the Corning Museum of Glass, truly wonderful and just down the road.
We saw them making glass in different ways, although I don't think there is any factory production in Corning anymore. You see glass blowing demo at the bottom here.
I am really drawn to a lot of the wild and outrageous pieces, really inspiring, you know? The nekkid ladies, the cavorting nymphs, the wee little animals. The wife says that's a good thing: the whimsical.
3 favorites---the newd white angel torso goblet, the very tall yellow and orange pitcher and chalice, the one with the ducks or geese on top.

Some great pieces in there; I like the ones that look like they are front the 50s and 60s.

Lots of cool stuff there! I remember going to see a glass blower once when I was a kid at Silver Dollar City. Cool stuff.

I've always been fascinated by the glass blowers art, such as the stuff you've been showing from Corning. Always had the "I wants" for just one piece of that gorgeous stuff they used to be so famous for, too. Unbelievable, really, And do try not to have a coughing fit or a sneeze while working!

And when you lived in NH, did you ever go to Simon Pearce in VT?

Did they make YOUR pumpkin out of glass? (You'd have to have seen their TV commercials.)
