The shot with the umbrella popped out is on the mainland above the US falls. Then we walked out to Goat Island which is between the falls. People fail to realize that the REAL falls has nothing to do with spending money on anything and it is not true that the Canadian side is better. We have the islands and they're beautiful and in the middle of it all! Leave your car, start hoofing it around the park, especially the islands. Goat Island is the piece of land between the 2 falls. That pic of the 2 of us shows us standing overlooking both falls at once because we are between them.

The Niagara Falls is one of those places that you expect will be tourist hell (and I guess in places it is) but then totally blows your mind. The falls are so amazing. And, as you point out, when you leave the "5 minutes from the parking lot" spots, its nature at its best! So cool! Looks like you guys had a blast! M
Okay, one more comment to all these. Um, how come you have the purple umbrella and she has the blue one, when you are wearing blue and she is wearing pink -- accessorizes well with purple?
