I don't feel like cr@p on toast, really I don't, although I could swear that despite 4 four-leaf clovers this morning that the wife brought home the guinea piglet flu from her travels, but then again, you open the kiln and although I made a mistake on one or two items (some glazes are fussy and you have to remember to pamper them) the overall results today are most stunning.
My non-potter friends will not know the feeling: opening a good kiln firing is like Christmas morning, although occaisionally the stocking may hold a rock.
Lynda wanted to see seals on sugar bowls and the 2 smaller ones just came out. Mmmmmm so good...
Also making some really big and whacked pieces today and better drag my azz back down and finish them all.....

We once filled the young adult nephew's stocking with rocks. It was great for a laugh, but then he demanded his presents.

And we need a good/decent not-too-expensive place to stay in Ithaca. I just about choked when I went online looking for motels/hotels. Got any suggestions?
There is an old-world, vintage quality to those seal jars--makes me think of old children's books...
Gary, those seals are so happy with their little ball. Look, they're smiling. I LOVE that red glaze. Love it.
Opening the kiln after waiting patiently (impatiently) for it to cool (be cool enough to not cook my arm hair) really is like Christmas.
I don't think I have ever found a four leaf clover- although I have a huge lucky stone collection! Nice pots Gary- I will need new stuff for the new shop!
Perhaps a circus theme is in your future??? Well, actually, you already have the menagerie... The cool elephants, now trained seals, recalling cute monkeys, regal lions and zebras... giraffes?
yes! Opening a kiln is like opening Christmas presents isn't it.You can't wait to see what the kiln gods have gifted you.
