the curious case of.....

The curious case of the huge ice sheets. The river behind our house (the river bend with the geese is directly behind our house, as viewed from the bridge down the street) was frozen for a month or two, all the ducks and geese crowded around one tiny open pool of water. It turned warm and rainy 2 days last week and in a huge whoosh all the ice broke up in a most spectacular fashion. The waters flooded the shore and have now receded, leaving huge blocks of ice high and dry. The geese and ducks are so happy to have the river again and they can eat all the things they like.
The other curious case, of course, is what is going on in my bedroom when I am not around. Penny the beagle and Spike the cat have a little thing going on.....

We have a few rivers like that around here, Gary. Especially the Delaware river. When that overflows it can leave the ice sheets several hundred feet back. It usually evacuates one of the small towns, too. (why people continue to build and live there is beyond me!)

Wish you had gotten the ice break on video. That would be very cool to see!
