five for five!

OK, this head cold is half gone, thanks for asking. I am hoping to have a semi-normal day today.
Extra good news is that although my kiln conked out last week in the middle of a firing, I rec'd parts Monday and tore the kiln apart yesterday am and my repair was righteous and I refired the pots and a quick peek into a hot kiln tells me things went very well. Amen!

My pal Lynda said yesterday 'I need a meme!!!' and so I wrote on. Lynda, this meme's for you! Copy and paste and use in my comments here puhleeese!
(ps--I loved being 5---you could play and draw and look at books and ride a bike, yeow, just the best age, wasn't it?)

1) what was you favorite snack when you were 5? What is it now?
When I was 5? I remember ordering it even at the fancy restaurant my grandparents took us to: peanut butter and jam sandwiches! And now? peanut butter and jam sandwiches! Although I love any kind of burritos now too.

2) what was your favorite cartoon when you were 5? what do you like to watch now?
I loved Scooby Doo! And the Brady Bunch!!!! I don't watch TV anymore, but like music videos as everybody knows PLUS lots of funny and artsy movies. I am thinking we want to see Confessions of a Shopaholic....

3) what did you like to do after school when you were five? how about in your free time now? I remember after school catching Gilligan's Island for a bit, then spending the day out digging in dirt, riding a bike around, more digging, and in bad weather, painting with watercolors. Now? I spend all of my time doing much the same--making something out of clay and reading books and a remarkble amount of time walking my young beagle. She has very soft ears.

4) what scared you most when you were 5? what scares you most now?
I KNEW there was a vampire under my bed when I was 5. What scares me now? The economy, stoopid! Scarier than any vampire I'll tell ya...

5) what do you remember most clearly from when you were 5? how about in the last year? Two things I remember: one is where two bullies pushed me into mud on the way home walking from school (kids walked by themselves back and forth to school at age 5 when I was a kid, I doubt that is common anymore) and I lost my shoe and carried it home crying, and the other was the sounds I heard on Christmas of the front door opening, stamping feet on the floor and snowy footprints and presents later when I went out to look at the tree! (my dad faked Santa pretty well)
In the last year? Carp. I have a bad memory. Tee hee, well when me and the missus were __________________________________________ . That was memorable!

I think I could handle being five again for a day. What a fun meme.

I love the new mug designs.

Those cups and saucers are a laugh. I'd hate to have one the next morning after a severe hangover.

Thanks, Gary! I am posting this on my site, but answering here because you're the best!

1) what was your favorite snack when you were 5? Peanut butter & crackers What is it now? For an out-and-out snack, it would have to be popcorn.

2) what was your favorite cartoon when you were 5? Oh, I liked so many, but I remember watching Caspar The Ghost a lot, along with Heckle & Jeckle, Felix the Cat....and who could forget Tom Terrific? What do you like to watch now? I hate to admit it, but SOME reality shows have me, however, I am currently not under the influence of one. And, as I admitted previously, I record Y&R (you know what I am talking about if it's got you, too!) and watch it in the evenings.

3) what did you like to do after school when you were five? Play outside with friends How about in your free time now? Reading, playing trivia, and an occasional nap is great.

4) what scared you most when you were 5? Spooky things... witches, goblins, monsters under the bed... What scares you most now? My family members being hurt in some way or losing them.

5) What do you remember most clearly from when you were 5? How nothing was impossible - we saw Mary Poppins and, afterwards, got our umbrellas, climbed a ladder and jumped off. We just new we could fly! How about in the last year? Reviewing 2008, it was all about the kid...her struggles in school, making some bad choices, and the changes she went through and is currently making.

Thank God, you've mowed the "fright" wig down to size, Gary! :)
Wish you could have heard my gasps of delight over the yellow mug, and the truly beautiful cup and saucer. I can see that mug being a marvelous container for a root beer float or a malted milk shake, too or == it just has suchan inviting shape. And that saucer is so utterly graceful, like a turned up at the edges lily pad. Beautiful! Really love it.

This one looks fun. Just remember that it was 1945 for me...

1) what was you favorite snack when you were 5?

There wasn't much in the way of snacks back then--there was a war on. I'd beg steal or borrow any kind of fruit, though.

What is it now?

Fruit, with a rare pig-out on sweet biscuits (cookies).

2) what was your favorite cartoon when you were 5?

Mickey Mouse, with Donald Duck running a close second.

what do you like to watch now?

Current fav. is "Ladies of Letters" (view it and weep) but I have a passion for Stargate SG-1, too.

3)what did you like to do after school when you were five?

Go out and play with my mates. We didn't wander far, though, for fear of a daylight bombing run.

how about in your free time now?

I still like to go out and play with my mates. I don't wander far, though, for fear of a knee collapse.

4)what scared you most when you were 5?

Being alone. A lot of bad things went on back then but a kid of 5 was safe when there were people around.

what scares you most now?

Poverty. Been there, done that, and worked my rocks off all my life to be free of it in my old age. Seems these days that other people have other views about the security of pension savings.

5)what do you remember most clearly from when you were 5?

Going to school for the first time, clutching a large book and protesting that I could read already.

how about in the last year?

Moving house. Never again.
